Print Your Own Drop Cloth Flags

I could have gone to the store and bough some flags - but that is not my style. I decided to print my own on my favorite material - drop cloth.

Here is what I did....

1. Get an image of the desired flag. Here are links to the ones I used
Copy and pasted images on to your favorite computer program, and resize to desired size. Check out my tutorial HERE on how to print on fabric.

2. Cut out the flags, leaving a border around the flag if you would like frayed edges. Fray the fabric by pulling out several of the threads in the fabric.

3. Fold over the edge of the flag around a wooden skewer. Hot glue into place.

For a second flag or if you want a double sided flag - flip the image if you are making an American flag or other flags that would need the image flipped. The Canadian flag worked both ways.

My flags are adorning the wreath on my door.

After Canada day (July 1) I will change my Canadian flags to get ready for July 4th.

Super Hero Action Pack - DIY Father's Day Gift

I saw a great idea on Pinterest that sparked this gift idea for this year's Father's Day gift. It was a Super Hero gift pack from Alphamom- click here to see it. I thought it would be neat to put a gift pack together that match action words, so here is what I came up with...

Images are below - right click - copy and paste to favorite program. Resize as desired. Print.
Item - Action Word - Saying
1. Pop - ZING! - You can be ama"zing"ly sweet.
2. Power bar - POW! - You are strong and "pow"erful

Item - Action Word - Saying
3. Jeans - SMASH! - You are "smash'ingly handsome and you passed on those genes to your children.
4 - Lifesavers - BAM! - When we need you, "bam"! your there. You are a lifesaver.
5 - Cashews/Nuts - BONK! - You drive us "bonk"ers with your sense of humor. We like that you are a little nuts.
6. Chips - KRUNCH! - Countless times you are there getting us out of a "krunch".
7. Bomb (made of toilet paper rolls and pipe cleaners stuffed with chocolates - BOOM! - You're the bomb! Sometimes you blow up but you stick around to pick up the pieces.
8. Refrigerator Dough - WHACK! You make a "whack" of dough to put a roof over our heads, food on our plates and clothes on our backs.
An item I forgot to take a picture of....
9. Chapstick - SMACK! Holy "smack"ers! Your smile can turn a rough day into a wonderful one.
I printed out each tag and added the saying to the back of the action word. I added personal notes to each tag.
I made a box bag to put the contents in. The picture above is showing the inside of the bag. I used a shoe box bottom for the base. This bag is AWESOME for those hard to fit gifts.
CLICK HERE to go to the tutorial to make a box bag. I printed out and glued the super hero action burst sign to the front of the bag.
The images for the tags are below - right click on each action word- copy and paste to favorite program.
Resize as desired. Print.

I hope this helps you with your Father's Day preparations.

Road of Life Survival Kit - Graduation Gift Idea

I have been working on this gift for a while now and it is FINALLY done. My daughters graduation is just around the corner and I decided to make her this Road of Life survival kit for a graduation present.
Everything in this kit has something to do with a car - and not every graduate has a car - but I think other items could easily be substituted to go with the sayings. Here is what I put in the kit...

Item - Saying - (Meaning)

1. Flashlight - Getting Dark? Shine a light on it. (Faith)
2. First Aid Kit - Car Wreck? Assess the damage and make repairs. (Endurance and courage)
3. Shovel - Stuck in a Rut? (Making changes - trying something new)

4. Gas Can - Don't run on empty. (Don't waste a day)
5. Gas Gift Card - Make the trip worthwhile, go the second mile. (work and character ethics)
6. Pylons - Watch for warning signs. (Making wise choices)

7. City Map - Chart your course. (Making goals)
8. Zap straps, rope and bungee cords - Secure your load before winds of adversity strike. (Staying strong, don't give up)
9. Blind Spot Mirrors - Check your blind spots. (Personal improvement)

10. Gloves - put your work gloves on and use elbow grease. (love and pride of work)
11.  Emergency blanket - Caution - your comfort zone could be a dead end. (motivation)
12. Tools - Use the tools of the road. (Use resources available)

13. Air compressor - Feeling flat? Pump yourself up with purpose. (Have a purpose and go for it)
14. Emergency Glass Hammer and Knife - Feeling trapped? Have an escape plan. (don't let critics hold you back)
15. WD - 40 - Before the wheels seize, use WD. (work and decision importance)

I purchased a little vintage suitcase from a second hand store and put everything inside except for the gas can as it didn't fit. I was going to spray paint it but decided not to as my daughters car is green. I made a tag and put it on the suitcase.

Here are the files for the tags to go on the separate items. The quotes that are included have special meaning to me - and maybe they will have special meaning with you. If they don't fit what you need there are a ton of inspirational quotes out there you can find. It was finding the quotes that took the most time for this project.
Right click on image(s), copy and paste into your favorite program. Resize to fit full page.
I printed each page out on kraft card stock - cut each tag out - and glued it on to a black card stock with the inspirational quote on the back of the black. I used this car image CLICK HERE for the little cars on each tag - adhering them with a pop dot. I wish I had "FLIPPED" half of them to give some variety on the tags.
